Humphrys in Search of God

radio4.jpgI was absolutely gripped by John Humphrys in Search of God. I caught the broadcast in the car driving to a meeting and was captivated by the discussion. There are two more in the series, which I’ll catch online, where John will be chatting to Professor Tariq Ramadan a Muslim academic and author and Sir Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi.

In the first broadcast John was chatting to Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury. John Humphrys wants to believe in God and has spent much of his life searching and investigating.

johnhumphrys.jpgHis questions for the Archbishop were about suffering. How is belief in God possible in a world so filled with suffering, much of which is caused by religion and religious waring? Where is God when all of this is happening? And how can we have faith when we live in an age of science and discovery?
